COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid Review on Combination/ Sensitive Skin

COSRX BHA blackhead power

Growing up, I’ve been known quite self-conscious about my “strawberry” nose. That is literally how congested it is, filled with comedones (blackheads/whiteheads). Definitely not the most appealing look… period! So after years of weekly costly facials and painful extractions, I have begin to accept that I was doomed to have a congested nose for life. Until I discovered the life-changing combination of niacinamide and salicylic acid.

To put it simply, niacinamide helps prevent breakouts and pore congestions, while salicylic acid helps unclog pores. Having this combination in a toner/ essence have drastically transformed my skin. I have previously been using a glycolic acid toner for years which helps chemically exfoliate dead skin cells on the upper layers of the skin. Therefore, glycolic acid is actually more suited for ageing/ mature skin as over time it helps lessens the appearance of fine lines.

Cosrx_BHA_Blackhead_Power_Liquid_100_ml_sub_1.jpgI started using a salicylic toner and felt I needed to combine it with niacinamide and that was when I stumbled upon COSRX’s BHA Blackhead Power Liquid. I have used this product for the past 3 months and I can feel that not only my pores are less prominent but my nose and cheeks are less congested and feels “smoother”. I then combine this with a bi-weekly pore strip where I find that the comodones on my nose would come-off more easily. Another alternative would be to have a weekly home use acid peel, such as The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution.

Ingredients:

Salix alba (willow) bark water, butylene glycol, betaine salicylate, niacinamide, 1,2-hexanediol, arginine, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate, xanthan gum, ethyl hexanediol.

Just to quickly sum up here is my thoughts on COSRX’s BHA Blackhead Power Liquid.

Verdict:

💦Packaging: 5/5 – It’s plain and simple, a plastic bottle and a pump nozzle. It is easily dispensable.

💦Smell/Texture: 5/5 –It’s very watery, which is a good thing. I read on a research paper that the more diluted the product the better it is for skin absorption. It does leave a “sticky” feeling upon application. This however would dissipate after a few minutes, leaving your skin with a dewy finish. It doesn’t smell like much as it is “sans perfum” which is always a good thing for sensitive skin. The last thing you’d need is more potential allergens.

💦Efficacy: 5/5 – I love this stuff! I have practically bought another bottle when I just begun using the product in its first week. It doesn’t sting my eczema-prone skin and it definitely does an excellent job at unclogging my pores. The best part is that my skin has been glowing more than it did when I was in my teens! 😃

💦Price: 5/5 – Depending on where you buy it it can cost anything from £12 to £22 (Cult Beauty). The good thing is that it comes in a 100ml bottle and I’ve been using it for 3 months and it I’m only about the 1/4 mark of the bottle.

💦Repurchase: Yes! This product is great for skin that is prone to breakouts and congestion. A useful time for those  with extremely sensitive skin, is to use it sparingly and only on your T-zone area.

💦Overall Rating: 4.5/ 5 ⭐️ I’m definitely adding this one to my Holy Grail!

X,
