EUK is also known as Ethylbisiminomethylguaiacol Manganese Chloride. EUK 134 is basically an active ingredient that is normally found in sunscreen. More amazingly it is possibly one of the most potent anti-oxidant there is out there. Plus the raw material costs a fortune.
According to a Dermatology Journal, EUK-134 not only prevents damage done by exposure to the sun’s harmful UVB rays, but can also increase cell survival after the exposure occurs. It is therefore a complete antioxidant system that mimics nature and is safe and beneficial in cosmetics and, more importantly, sunscreens.
UVB rays generates oxidative stress to the skin and contributes to photoaging and photocarcinogenesis, and increased oxidative stress may lead to increased DNA damage, subsequent mutation, and in the long run, cancer. By using EUK 134, it will not only counter the potential damages that is caused by the sun but also help combat the pre-mature ageing process of our skin. To put it simply, it is anti-aging (although I was never a big fan of that term).
The Ordinary EUK 143 0.1%
💦Smell/Texture: 3.5/5 –I have just begun to put it to the test with The Ordinary’s EUK 134 0.1%. Upon application it did feel like a warm sensation on my sensitive skin. My cheeks turned red after. I later found out this was because I had a facial the day before and was treated with acids. Because after about a week of using this serum, there wasn’t an uncomfortable uncomfortable tingling sensation anymore.
It has a rather interesting texture, and the colour of a golden brown syrup. If I didn’t know any better I think it somehow resembled a diluted maple syrup. It took some time for my skin to absorb the serum. It just looked that it was sitting on my skin for a good 5-10 minutes. It has an interesting smell to it, almost earthy but also a little like jackfruit, I just can’t quite put my finger on it.
💦Efficacy: 4/5 – I have been using this product religiously in my AM Routine for the past month. I’m not sure if I see a massive difference in my skin but I feel that this product is more for prevention than cure. It does take a little longer to absorb, so I would normally do a quick lymphatic drainage facial and neck massage every time I apply this serum. My skin does seem a little brighter and with the combination of EUK 134 and retinol with squalane I can comfortably leave the flat without putting any makeup on.
💦Price: 5/5 – You definitely cannot find a cheaper EUK 134 serum in the market! These stuff are hella pricey!
💦Mode d’emploi: I use this in my AM Routine. Here are my steps: Cleanse, tone, essence, EUK 134, oil based serum, moisturiser, sunscreen. I then use Retinol + Squalene at night.
💦Repurchase: Depending on how my skin reacts in the next few days, I may or may not repurchase. I will also keep you all updated on this (:
💦Overall Rating: 4/ 5 ⭐ I’m definitely adding this one to my Holy Grail!
