Cerave Hydrating Cleanser Review on Sensitive Skin

So for the past 3 months I have been using COSRX Low pH Cleanser. I’ve noticed that ever since using the cleanser my combination/ sensitive skin did dry out a bit. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great cleanser for oilier skin types, but maybe not for my skin type especially with the dry UK weather.

It’s one of those products that I have stopped reaching out for. I think because it was because my skin just wasn’t feeling it and therefore my brain intuitively just stopped reaching out for it every time I cleansed my face.

I noticed that my skin has changed drastically ever since moving to London. When I was in Kuala Lumpur, I felt that my skin felt oilier with the humidity and heat. My skin just started becoming drier in London. I noticed more pronounced fine lines and smile lines around my eyes. Something I must say I am not the most fond of.

I’ve been seeing quite a far bit of Cerave posts by local UK bloggers. I started being a bit more intrigued about their products. I mean I have seen them at Target while visiting the US but it just reminded me of Cetaphil. I think the main difference between the two brands is that Cerave contains 3 types of ceramides along with hyaluronic acid.

Here’s a quick review of Cerave’s Hydrating Cleanser:

💦Packaging: 5/5 – It’s a “lock/ unlock” pump. It’s a great feature for travel! Not having to worry that your cleanser would “splash” all over your bag. I generally love pump cleansers just because it is so much more accessible than having to open and close a bottle cap.

💦Smell/Texture/ Ingredients: 5/5The best part about the product is that it not only helps hydrate the skin with hyaluronic acid but also helps retain the moisture within the skin with ceramides. It has a jelly-like consistency. It sort of reminds me of Glossier’s cleanser without the “rose” fragrance. I actually prefer this to Glossier’s as I didn’t quite enjoy the rose smell of the cleanser. Plus this cleanser contains 2 main active ingredients that can help restore your protective barrier but re-hydrate your skin.

💦Efficacy: 5/5 –  I have been using the product for well over 4 weeks and I can seriously tell that it does cleanse very well. I feel that my skin has “freaked out” less since using the cleanser. Could it be because it is pH balanced and does not strip off my skin’s protective barrier? I did in fact use a litmus paper to test it’s pH. It falls within the 5.0- 5.5pH mark. I think this will be my “go-to” cleanser for a long time.

💦Price: 5/5I got it when there was a promo at £6.99 for 236ml. I think now Boots UK is selling it for £9. Still have about double the amount of product vs. average cleansers I think it is a massive bargain!

💦Mode d’emploi: I use this both during the AM and PM as a cleanser. However the only difference is that I would use this after my micellar water in my PM routine. You can certainly opt to only use this in your PM routine if you have severely dry skin. Plus it is a great idea to never over-cleanse your face.

💦Repurchase: It’s a definitely “yes, I will. I will. I will” with this one!

💦Overall Rating: 5/ 5 ⭐ Hands down the best drugstore cleanser there is out there!

  1. Big fan of the cleanser. I have the foaming and hydrating. I’ve just reviewed the moisturiser. Happy blogging.
