The Holy Grail of All Primers: BECCA Cosmetics Backlight Priming Filter ✨

becca2-1024x678I’ve tried it all, from high-end to drug store brands and I have found my No. 1 when it comes to primers. I’ve been using Pixi Beauty and Laura Mercier primers for years but I noticed it did little to nothing to my pores. In fact, with Pixi Beauty’s primer I tend to look like I’ve got a fake tan when I apply it on my skin. I think it has to do with the massive gold particles which is quite unsettling.

Then I stumbled upon BECCA Cosmetics at Sephora and it was life-changing! BECCA Cosmetics Backlight Priming Filter is for me by far the best primer there is out there. I had a very subtle sheen to it and I feel that the shimmery particles are very fine compares to the Pixi Beauty one. Also, I feel that the primer combined with the Hourglass Cosmetics translucent powder is a definite winning combo!

BECCA Cosmetics Backlight Priming Filter: Before + After Comparisons

💦Packaging: 5/5 – I love that It does have a very luxurious feel to it. It is a glass bottle with a pump. It does have an elegance to it. One pump is all you need. I do prefer this method of dispensing as I find that it is harder to gauge when dispensing from a tube. The nozzle for the bottle is very small and therefore it creates better accuracy for dispensing.

💦Texture/ Ingredients: 4/5 – I don’t love the fact that it does contain a small amount of fragrance. It is however almost un detectable. For those with sensitive skin, I’d say please do a quick patch test prior to applying this on your face. I do have eczema-prone skin and this product did not cause any irritations.

Here is the full ingredients list:

Water, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Tocopheryl Acetate, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Extract, Panthenol, Silica, Carbomer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, Iron Oxides (CI 77491).

💦Efficacy: 5/5 –  I absolutely love this product! It doesn’t exactly blur my pores like how silicone primers would but it does give my skin a lit-from-within glow. It also does hydrate my skin which is always a plus point. Some days I just wear the primer on its own and add a quick dash of Hourglass translucent powder for that extra oomph! It creates this effortless no-makeup-look which I am obsessed with.

💦Price: 5/5 – I’ve to say at £28 for 30ml it is quite an affordable high-endish product. However, a little does go a long way. I can see this lasting me well over 6 months considering that I do not usually wear makeup everyday.

💦Mode d’emploi: Used as the first step of your makeup routine. I would first moisturise and then apply this primer over it.

💦Repurchase: Most definitely! This is definitely the primer of all primers!

💦Overall Rating: 5/ 5 ⭐ This primer is a definite MakeUp Hall of Fame!

  1. I dont like primers, they make my skin horrible
I use retin A which shrank my pores and hydrates my skin. I just put my retinA on and foundation when I want to doll myself up. Its alot easier, these days sometimes we get caught in the trap of using products for a problem instead of fixing the problem
